Student Development Fund
The University of the Highlands and Islands Development Trust has just launched its new Student Development Fund.
The Student Development Fund has been established specifically to
help UHI students who have been offered exciting opportunities in
connection with their course but are hindered by financial constraints.
Students are invited to make an application for a grant from the fund,
which is administered by the University of the Highlands and Islands
Development Trust.
The fund is designed to offer UHI students that little bit of help with exciting one-off opportunities that may occur during their course e.g. joining a field trip; attending a placement, etc, which they may not be able to fund from other sources. It is designed to be in additional to, rather than cover all the cost, although each application will be taken on its merit.
The Development Trust has launched the fund with an initial annual grant of over £5,000. These funds come from donations made by various individuals and members of our Principal’s Circle. Our long term ambition is to establish a fund of £25,000 which will build up over the years to provide continuing support for UHI students.
With nearly seven thousand students currently at UHI, there is a great demand for this fund. UHI is important for the economy and the region, but most of all for the future of the young people and their future ambitions. We would like to help as many students as possible achieve their goals and have the best experience they can at UHI, and in order to do this, we need financial help from our friends, supporters and alumni.
